Grassington Community Grant

Playground  Television UK Ltd. have been donating to a village fund each time they have come to film All Creatures Great and Small. They hoped this would be used to benefit the local community and show their appreciation for the opportunity to film in the village. There is approximately £15k in the fund.  This money will be available by application to the Grant Committee which is made up of representatives of the GPC, Hub, GDI, YDNPA and Chamber of Trade with Councillor Foster acting as Chair. It is important to us that the money is given out in an open and fair manner and we need you to help in two ways:

  • Firstly, we would like two people from the village community to join us on the decision-making panel which will meet 4 times a year. This is open to any Grassington resident and if you are interested, please put your details in a sealed envelope with ‘Grant Panel’ written on the front and hand it in at the HUB.  The deadline is August 14th.
  • We then need everyone to think about how the money should be spent to enrich the community of Grassington. Time to put your thinking caps on and come up with some ideas.

Applications are welcome from everyone in the village and the paperwork will be available from the Hub/Discover Grassington website from August 1st. Get in quick as when the money has gone it’s gone! Help will be given if needed to fill in the forms so please do not feel it is hard to make an application.

  • Requests will not be considered for running costs, maintenance and upkeep, or for the benefit of an individual but should enhance what is being offered to the community.

  • The Grant Panel will review each application in turn and determine whether applications are fully funded or partially funded.
  • The Grant Panel will aim to provide funding for a cross section of requests to try and  ensure a wide range of projects, age groups and interests are supported to benefit a wide cross section of the community.
  • Where insufficient information has been provided, the applicant will be informed of the additional information required and will be able to resubmit to a future Grant Panel.
  • Where members cannot agree on the allocation, the Chair will have the final decision.
  • Recipients are required to spend the allocated funds within three months of receiving confirmation of the funding allocation unless there is a dated event.  Recipients are to forward confirmation/invoices of the spend that has taken place.
  • The decision of the Grant Panel is final.
